Het station Köln West ligt aan de noordwestelijke rand van het centrum van Keulen in de wijk Neustadt-Nord aan de Venloer Straße. Het station is een halte van het lokale vervoerssysteem en ligt aan de Kölner Eisenbahnring. Het station heeft twee perronsporen aan een 210 meter lang middelperron en acht perronloze sporen die voor het goederenvervoer worden gebruikt. De gevel van het voormalige ontvangstgebouw is beschermd als monument.
