Het gebouw dat bekendstaat als het Historisch Stadhuis van de stad Erftstadt is het stadhuis van de vroegere stad Lechenich. Het bepaalt door zijn centrale ligging op het marktplein in grote mate het beeld van de oude stad.
Het in neogotische stijl opgetrokken gebouw werd op 10 augustus 1982 onder nummer 003 in de lijst van monumenten in Erftstadt geregistreerd en staat daarmee onder bescherming van de monumentenzorg.
