Het Waldmuseum Stendenitz bevindt zich in het noorden van Brandenburg, midden in de Ruppiner Schweiz, nabij Neuruppin aan de Zermützelsee. Het is een van de oudste bosmuseum van Duitsland.
Het ligt in de Ruppiner Schweiz. Het typische landschap van de Ruppiner Schweiz met zijn meren is te wijten aan de werking van de laatste ijstijd. In deze tijd ontstond er ten noorden van Neuruppin een keten van meren. Ten westen van de Zermützel-, Tornow- en Kalksee ontstond een sterk heuvelachtig landschap, dat een diverse soortenrijkdom herbergt. Kraanvogel, bever, zeearend en visarend vinden hier een leefgebied.
