Frauwalde maakt deel uit van de gemeente Großkmehlen in de Landkreis Oberspreewald-Lausitz in de Duitse deelstaat Brandenburg. Het behoort tot het Amt Ortrand met zetel in Ortrand.
Frauwalde ligt als een van de weinige plaatsen in de zuidelijke Landkreis Oberspreewald-Lausitz niet in de Lausitz maar in de Schraden. Ten oosten van het dorp liggen plaatsen van het Amt Ortrand Großkmehlen in het zuidoosten en Lindenau, evenals direct oostelijk de stad Ortrand met de wijk Burkersdorf. In het westen en noordwesten grenst Frauwalde aan de gemeenten van de Landkreis Elbe-Elster, Großthiemig en de Schraden-gemeente. Ten zuiden van Frauendorf ligt de deelstaat Saksen.
