De Königshainer Bergen liggen in de Oostelijke Oberlausitz ten westen van de stad Görlitz in de Landkreis Görlitz. Ze bevinden zich ten noorden en zuiden van de naamgevende gemeente Königshain en zijn een uitgestrekt, ongeveer 50 km2 groot en meestal bebost granietgebied. De belangrijkste verhogingen zijn de 415 m boven NHN hoge Kämpferberge in het zuiden, de bekende Hochstein met 397,2 m boven NHN in het noorden en de Hutberg in het westen.
In de natuurruimtelijke indeling van Saksen worden ze toegeschreven aan de macrogeochore Oostelijke Oberlausitz, de mesogeochore Königshainer Berg- en Heuvelgebied en de twee mikrogeochoren Kämpferberg-Rug en Eichberg-Hutberg-Rug. De gehele Königshainer Bergen zijn sinds 1974 natuurreservaat. In een deel van de voormalige Firstensteinbreuk bevindt zich een vogelbeschermingsgebied.
