Het vulkanenmuseum in het oude Dauner landhuis is ontstaan als aanvulling op de bestaande geopathen Hillesheim, Manderscheid en Gerolstein en maakt deel uit van het natuur- en geopark Vulkaneifel.
Naast vele informatieborden geven foto's en tentoonstellingen uit de Vulkaneifel, maar ook van momenteel nog actieve vulkanen uit Europa en Azië, inzicht in de geologische ontwikkeling van de Vulkaneifel. Inmiddels zijn er meerdere vulkanenmusea verspreid over de Eifel. Een andere is bijvoorbeeld het Maarmuseum in Manderscheid en het Vulkanhaus Strohn.
