De L-Bank is het regionale ontwikkelingsinstituut van de deelstaat Baden-Württemberg en een Duitse kredietinstelling in de rechtsvorm van een instelling van openbaar recht met zetel in Karlsruhe en een vestiging in Stuttgart.
De juridische basis voor de bank zijn de wet op de L-Bank van 11 november 1998 van de deelstaat Baden-Württemberg en het door de deelstaatregering uitgevaardigde reglement. De deelstaat Baden-Württemberg is waarborggever en draagt de instellinglast. De organen van de bank zijn de raad van bestuur als uitvoerend orgaan en de raad van toezicht als toezichthoudend orgaan.
