Bühl is een stad in het westen van Baden-Württemberg, ongeveer tien kilometer ten zuidwesten van Baden-Baden. Het is de derde grootste stad van de districtsstad Rastatt en de stad Gaggenau in de Landkreis Rastatt en vormt een middelcentrum voor de omliggende gemeenten. Sinds 1 januari 1973 is Bühl een Große Kreisstadt. Met de gemeente Ottersweier is de stad Bühl een afgesproken samenwerkingsverband aangegaan.
Bühl ligt op een hoogte van 123 tot 1038 meter in het midden van een drieledige panorama-landschap. Dit strekt zich uit van de door landbouw bepaalde Rijnvallei over de voorbergzone, waar wijn- en fruitteelt domineren, tot de bosbouwgebruikte bergen van het Zwarte Woud. De stad ligt aan beide zijden van de Bühlot en haar benedenloop, de Sandbach.
