Het Multinationale CIMIC Commando is de vierde generatie CIMIC binnen de Bundeswehr. Al eind 2001 werd een voorgangerseenheid opgericht uit contingent van het Leger, de Luchtmacht en de Marine als onderdeel van de ook nieuw opgerichte strijdkrachtenbasis in de Clausewitz-kazerne in Nienburg/Weser. De sterkte bedraagt na de structurele aanpassing van 2017 heroriëntatie van de Bundeswehr ongeveer 200 soldaten en civiele medewerkers. Naast deze in Nienburg dienstdoende personen krijgt het MN CIMIC Commando ondersteuning voor inzetdoeleinden door 81 dienstplaatsen, die zijn gelokaliseerd in 15 landcommando's, door bij het Civil-Military Cooperation Centre of Excellence dienende soldaten, en door drie andere dienstplaatsen aan de Bundesakademie voor Bevolkingsbescherming en Civiele Verdediging in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler.
