Het Slot Charlottenborg in Kopenhagen was een nevenresidentie van het Deense koningshuis. Het gebouw in het centrum van Kopenhagen herbergt vandaag de Kunsthal Charlottenborg en is de zetel van de Koninklijke Deense Kunstacademie.
Het stuk grond was een gift van koning Christiaan IV aan zijn maîtresse Wiebke Kruse, die hier een genot- en keuken-tuin liet aanleggen. Het stuk grond ging na haar dood naar hun gezamenlijke zoon Ulrik Christian Gyldenløve. Hij stierf al in 1658 op 28-jarige leeftijd, en de volgende eigenaar van de grond werd Ulrik Frederik Gyldenløve, een onwettige zoon van koning Frederik III. Ulrik Frederik was dus de halfbroer van de kroonprins en latere koning Christiaan V. Van hem kreeg hij toestemming om een passende residentie te bouwen.
