Het plein waar het oude gemeentehuis zich bevindt staat op de UNESCO Werelderfgoedlijst. Alle gebouwen op het plein uit de 11e tot de 15e eeuw hebben hun originele vorm behouden of zijn op een correcte manier gerestaureerd. De oude marktplaats kan worden beschouwd als het ontmoetingspunt van nu en is het hart van Tallinn. Als je de ronde steen met rozen en een kompasmotief in het centrum vindt, zijn hier vijf torens zichtbaar.
