De kerk van Santa María de la Alhambra werd voltooid in het begin van de 17e eeuw. Ze staat op de plaats van de Grote Moskee.
Met een Latijns kruis plattegrond en zijkapellen valt het barokke altaarstuk met grote Solomonische zuilen uit 1671 op, evenals de Kruisiging en de grote beelden van de heiligen Ursula en Susana, door Alonso de Mena.
De beschermheilige is het bekende beeld van de Virgen de las Angustias van Torcuato Ruiz del Peral, gemaakt tussen 1750 en 1760, dat tijdens de Goede Week vanuit deze tempel in processie wordt gedragen op een van de mooiste tronen van Granada, die in reliëf de bogen van de Patio de los Leones weergeeft.
