Deze oude abdij, een historische monument in de Bovenscheldevallei, is een belangrijke cisterciënzer abdij van de 12e eeuw. Ze werd in 1132 gesticht door St.-Bernardus, en biedt onderdak aan een hele reeks culturele en artistieke manifestaties. De kapittelzaal is de grootste in Europa. Rond de abdij is een parcours aangelegd dat leidt van heilige ruimtes tot wereldse ruimtes. U loopt door het hart van de kerk waar volop lavendel groeit, kom tot rust een tuin in zen-sferen. Verder is er een moestuin,
boomgaard, rozentuin en een vierkant met vaste planten. Ze wordt al meer dan 26 jaar gerestaureerd met steun van de vereniging "De vrienden van de Abdij van Vaucelles."
