Le Bourg-d'Oisans ligt in het dal van de rivier de Romanche, aan de weg van Grenoble naar Briançon, aan de zuidkant van de Col de la Croix de Fer. Het dorp ligt vaak op de route van de Tour de France, omdat het aan de voet ligt van de weg naar Alpe d'Huez en de legendarische haarspeldbochten naar de top van de berg.
