In het bos van Compiègne werd in november 1918 de wapenstilstand van WO I afgesloten in een treinwagon. Nu is het een park. Hitler koos deze symbolische plek uit op 21 juni 1940, om de Franse capitulatie te accepteren. De trein die hier nu staat is niet echt. De echte ging naar Berlijn en werd in 1945 door de SS troepen in brand gestoken.
