Cambrai is een stad in Frankrijk, in het Noorderdepartement in de regio Hauts-de-France. De gemeente telde 32.176 inwoners op 1 januari 2019.De stad ligt aan de bovenloop van de Schelde en het oude centrum is gebouwd op de rechteroever die opklimt naar de heuvel in het oosten waarop de citadel staat. De stad is de historische hoofdstad van het Kamerijkse , een heel vruchtbare streek met löss-bodem en van oudsher een belangrijke graanleverancier van de verstedelijkte Nederlanden.
