Cambrai o Cambray es una ciudad y comuna francesa en el departamento Norte, del que es subprefectura, y de la región de Alta Francia. Actualmente es un centro industrial a orillas del río Escalda.Sus orígenes están en la ciudad romana de Camaracum. Fue capital de un reino franco de 445 a 509. Desde el año 1543 perteneció a la corona española, después del Edicto perpetuo de 1577, pasó a manos francesas y de nuevo fue recuperada por España el 9 de octubre de 1595.[7] Hasta que Luis XIV la incorporó a Francia el 19 de abril de 1677, tras un asedio de 29 días.[8]
