Vesoul is een gemeente in het Franse departement Haute-Saône en telt 15.623 inwoners . De plaats maakt deel uit van het arrondissement Vesoul.In de 12e eeuw werd een kasteel gebouwd op de heuvel La Motte in de stad. De stad binnen de stadsmuren had een oppervlakte van 8 ha. Er waren vijf publieke waterpompen binnen de stad. De wijnbouw was tot de tweede helft van de 19e eeuw belangrijk en ook binnen de stadsmuren, op de kasteelheuvel waren er wijngaarden.
