Lyon [ljɔ̃] is een grote stad in het zuidoosten van Frankrijk. Het is de hoofdplaats van de regio Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes en van de gemeenschappelijke regeling Métropole de Lyon, die sinds 1 januari 2015 bestaat en de taken van een departement uitoefent. Lyon is bovendien de zetel van de prefectuur van het departement Rhône, maar sinds 2015 maakt het daar geen deel meer van uit.
