Cognin is een gemeente in het Franse departement Savoie . De plaats maakt deel uit van het arrondissement Chambéry. Cognin telde op 1 januari 2019 6.359 inwoners.De oppervlakte van Cognin bedraagt 4,48 km², de bevolkingsdichtheid is 1.419 inwoners per km² . Cognin ligt in het zuiden van de agglomeratie Chambéry, en ten noorden van de Chartreuse. In 1248 werd Cognin geheel verwoest bij de bergstorting van de Granier.
