Het kasteel van Ballon ligt in de voormalige Franse gemeente Ballon, die tegenwoordig geïntegreerd is in Ballon-Saint Mars, in het departement Sarthe. Het was een zeer belangrijke vesting gedurende een groot deel van de middeleeuwse periode en was het onderwerp van talrijke veldslagen. Het huidige uiterlijk is kenmerkend voor het einde van de 15e eeuw.
