Neen! Het tabaksmuseum is geen promotiemiddel voor tabak en is ook niet louter bestemd voor rokers!
Haar collecties, uniek in Europa, vertellen het verhaal van een plant met een uitzonderlijk lot, zowel hemels als vervloekt. Een plant die meer dan 3000 jaar geleden werd ontdekt en gebruikt in Amerika, alvorens Afrika en daarna de wereld te veroveren. Ook al heeft de tabak in onze huidige consumptiemaatschappij heel wat te verduren, deze plant heeft in alle beschavingen sporen nagelaten op sociologisch, economisch, cultureel, artistiek en politiek vlak. Ontdek dankzij de tentoonstelling van zeldzame voorwerpen deze wereldwijde sociale gewoonte, het verleden van de tabaksgebruiken en enkele rookobjecten.
Het tabaksmuseum is ondergebracht in het Maison Peyrarède, ook château Henri IV genaamd.
