De site van LA CHESNAYE waarin het museum is ondergebracht, kreeg in oktober 2015 van het ministerie van Cultuur en Communicatie het label "Maison des Illustres" onder de titel Ferdinand de Lesseps. Een lusthof naast het museum is sinds juli 2022 geopend voor het publiek. Bezoekers kunnen zich ontspannen in deze groene omgeving. De tuin is ingericht met elementen van de voormalige boerderij van Ferdinand de Lesseps en het museum Ponts et Chaussées
Er is een picknickplaats ingericht voor groepen voor de lunchpauze (op reservering). Een ideale plek voor kindergroepsnacks.
Eind 2022 werd een boomgaard met fruitbomen aangelegd. Als er fruit is, kunnen bezoekers het plukken.
