De kunst om geschiedenis en moderniteit te combineren? Dat is de ambitie van het Kantmuseum van Chantilly. Op basis van een collectie zwarte kant en voorwerpen die verband houden met de techniek van dit ambacht dat in de 18e en 19e eeuw in Chantilly werd beoefend, speelt het museum niet alleen een rol in het behoud maar ook in het behoud van het gebaar en de bewustwording van de techniek van het kloskant, in samenwerking met professionele en amateur-kantklosters. Naast zijn geschiedenis en zijn permanente collecties jurken, waaiers, sjaals en parasols, is het museum resoluut op de toekomst gericht en verweeft het de banden tussen erfgoed en hedendaagse creatie in zijn hele programmering.
