Een unieke en weinig bekende plek die een blijvende indruk zal achterlaten: Ban Saint-Jean. volgens gegevens van het Franse leger passeerden 300.000 Sovjet-krijgsgevangenen dit kamp tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Het pad dat loopt langs wat nu militair terrein is, biedt een rustgevende wandeling. De natuur eist haar rechten op over de ruïnes van de voormalige kazerne. Aan het einde van het pad staat de stele in een contemplatief landschap. Hij werd opgericht ter nagedachtenis aan de meer dan 20.000 slachtoffers van het kamp.
