Ein einzigartiger und unbekannter Ort, der für immer einen bleibenden Eindruck hinterlässt: Ban Saint-Jean. 300 000 sowjetische Kriegsgefangene durchliefen dieses Lager während des Zweiten Weltkriegs, wie aus den Archiven der französischen Armee hervorgeht. Der Weg entlang des heutigen Militärgeländes bietet einen beruhigenden Spaziergang. Die Natur erobert sich die Ruinen der ehemaligen Kasernen zurück. Am Ende des Weges erhebt sich die Stele aus einer andächtigen Landschaft. Sie wurde zum Gedenken an die Opfer des Lagers errichtet, von denen es mehr als 20.000 gab.
