Deze oude toren die boven de stad uitsteekt diende, voordat het een gevangenis was, lange tijd als uitkijktoren om de vijanden te zien aankomen langs de verschillende wegen of langs de stroom de Maas.
Daarom telt ze zoveel vensters in haar muren.
Onderdeel van de route "Mont D'Haurs Givet - Op expeditie naar de monumentale toeganspoort uit 1707".
De oude vesting van de Mont D’Haurs is gebouwd in de vorm van een kroon ergens tussen 1698 tot 1707.
Bouwstenen werden met name gewonnen met de aanleg van een gracht rondom de vestingmuren.
De toren is helaas niet publiek toegankelijk en je kunt daarom ook niet naar boven klimmen. Je kunt wel tot de voordeur lopen van waaruit je een leuk uitzicht hebt over Givet en de Maas.
