Tegenwoordig wordt Hambye Abbey omringd door bossen en bocage, maar vroeger was het omgeven door heide, droog grasland en kleine bosjes. De paden die het terrein doorkruisen stellen u in staat om enkele soorten van deze milieus met lage of struikachtige vegetatie te ontdekken. Het landschap wordt ook gekenmerkt door de samenvloeiing van de Sienne en de Doquette. Deze twee rivieren zijn ideaal voor de voortplanting van trekvissen en voeden de omliggende weilanden, bezaaid met kleine vijvers of tijdelijke wetlands die rijk zijn aan plantensoorten die zeldzaam zijn in de regio.
