Deze in beton uitgevoerde leeuw markeerde de ingang van de Duitse hoofdsteunpost (MAS): KONIGSTEIN. Het werd gebouwd van oktober 1917 tot juni 1918 door de 635e Royal Saxon Medical Company zoals een inscriptie op de basis aangeeft.De ingang van de in de krijtheuvel gegraven tunnels, die het hospitaal gedeeltelijk omhulden, is nog duidelijk zichtbaar.Het was een ware stad die zich afspeelde in de omgeving van het dorp Sugny. In totaal hebben 6002 soldaten deze PSP doorlopen.
