Michel Humair was een schilder van de Nieuwe School van Parijs, geboren in de Zwitserse Jura in 1926, die in 1947 naar Frankrijk verhuisde en in 2019 overleed. Hij beschreef zijn benadering als "impressionisme van lyrische abstractie". Lydia Harambourg schreef in La Gazette de l'Hôtel Drouot: "Humair behoort tot de tweede generatie van een abstractie die de voorkeur geeft aan gebaren en beweging die ten grondslag liggen aan vurige emotie (?). Deze emotie wordt overgebracht door kleuren en contrasten, door vormen en door een zinnelijk materiaal waarvan hij de expressieve rijkdom ten dienste stelt van wat hij wil overbrengen: de waarheid van zijn landschap".
