Het kasteel van Rochechouart kijkt uit over de valleien van Graine en Vayres en huisvest sinds 1985 het Musée d'art contemporain de la Haute-Vienne. Landschap, geschiedenis en verbeelding zijn de drie hoofdthema's achter de oprichting van deze instelling door de departementale raad van de Haute-Vienne. De dialoog tussen erfgoed en hedendaagse kunst, gehuisvest in een opmerkelijk gebouw uit de 15e eeuw, heeft geleid tot de creatie van een internationale collectie hedendaagse kunst en werken die meer specifiek zijn voor de site. In 1989, met de creatie van de Raoul Hausmann collectie (bestaande uit 600 werken en talrijke archieven), vond het museum zijn voogdijfiguur in de beroemde dadaïst.
