De brug werd gebouwd van 1905 tot 1908 door het bedrijf van Ferdinand Arnodin, naar een ontwerp uit 1896 van de ingenieur-commandant Albert Gisclard. Gisclard stierf op 31 oktober 1909 bij een spoorwegongeluk tijdens belastingproeven, dat aan vijf andere mensen het leven kostte. De brug werd dus genoemd naar zijn ontwerper.
