Dit plein werd in 1954 genoemd naar maarschalk Jean de Lattre de Tassigny, commandant van het Franse bevrijdingsoffensief in augustus 1944.
Het plein is opengesteld, verfraaid met bomen, zitbanken, totems met historische uitleg, en een gerestaureerde borne‑fontaine uit 1903 (één van de weinige nog originele pompen in Frankrijk).
De iconische Croix de fer (ijzeren kruis) uit 1827 staat centraal – symbolische plaats voor pelgrim en passerende reiziger.
