This square was named in 1954 after Marshal Jean de Lattre de Tassigny , commander of the French liberation offensive in August 1944.
The square is open to the public and is decorated with trees, benches, totems with historical explanations, and a restored Borne fountain from 1903 ( one of the few original pumps left in France).
The iconic Croix de fer (Iron Cross) from 1827 takes centre stage – a symbolic place for pilgrims and passing travellers.
