Boomtown is een Brits muziekfestival dat jaarlijks wordt gehouden op het Matterley Estate in het South Downs National Park, dichtbij Winchester, Hampshire. Het werd voor het eerst gehouden in 2009 en wordt sinds 2011 op de huidige locatie gehouden. De diverse line-up van bands, DJ's en sprekers treedt op op veel verschillende podia, elk onderdeel van een district met een eigen thema. Elk jaarlijks evenement staat bekend als een Hoofdstuk en bouwt voort op het verhaal van het voorgaande jaar, verteld door middel van de sets, live acteurs en vele vormen van alternatieve realiteitsgames. De festivallocatie is verdeeld in verschillende districten, en het verhaal komt tot uiting in het ontwerp van de districten, straten en locaties, die bevolkt worden door honderden acteurs die de rol van inwoners spelen. De grootschaligheid van de sets en infrastructuur vereist zes weken van constructie en een maand van afbraak.
