De Zeeslag bij Navarino of Slag in de Baai van Navarino op 20 oktober 1827 bracht een beslissende wending in de Griekse Onafhankelijkheidsoorlog. Het was de laatste grote zeeslag die uitsluitend met zeilschepen werd bevochten.
Vanaf de vijftiende eeuw regeerden de Ottomanen over het voormalig grondgebied van het Byzantijnse Rijk, met haar Grieks-Orthodoxe kerk en Romeinse erfenis. In de eeuwen daarna waren er sporadisch opstanden tegen het Ottomaanse bestuur in het Griekse schiereiland, maar die zorgden niet voor onafhankelijkheid. In 1821 brak een opstand uit die wel succesvol bleek te zijn: de Griekse Onafhankelijkheidsoorlog.
