Het Katafyki-ravijn strekt zich uit over meer dan vijf kilometer richting het kleine dorpje Fourni. Katafyki betekent 'uitgang naar' in het Grieks, aangezien dit het oorspronkelijke voetpad was van het oude Hermione naar het noorden, richting Epidavros, Kazarma, Tiryns en Mycene. Het was ook de plek waar veel Ermioni-dorpelingen zich in het verleden verborgen hielden voor de brutale invallen door Turken en piraten.
