De club werd in 1908 opgericht en won vijf landstitels maar stond altijd in de schaduw van de grotere clubs uit de hoofdstad KR, Fram en Valur. De laatste titel dateert van 1991. In 2004 degradeerde de club en kon zich na één seizoen terug bij de elite voegen. Na het seizoen 2007 moest de club opnieuw een stapje achteruit zetten. In het seizoen 2011 speelde de club weer op het hoogste niveau maar degradeerde meteen weer, zodat de club in 2012 weer in de 1. deild karla op het tweede niveau uitkomt. In 2014 promoveerde de club weer.
