De basiliek van Superga, ook wel bekend als de Koninklijke basiliek van Superga, staat op de gelijknamige heuvel, op 672 meter boven zeeniveau, ten noordoosten van Turijn. Het werd gebouwd door koning Vittorio Amedeo II als dank aan de Maagd Maria, nadat hij de Fransen had verslagen. Om deze reden wordt het beschouwd als een "herdenkingsmonument". Het lijkt erop dat de naam Superga verre Langobardische oorsprongen heeft en afkomstig is van een vrouw genaamd "Saroperga", eigenares van de bossen op deze locatie. Een andere veronderstelling is dat het een naam van Germaanse oorsprong is: Serrapergia; echter maken ze deel uit van de vele hypothesen, omdat ze niet worden ondersteund door betrouwbare historische bronnen.
