De Slag bij Cassano werd gevochten in de herfst van 1259 tussen een Guelphs en een Ghibellijns leger in Noord-Italië.
In 1259 trok Ezzelino da Romano met zijn Ghibellijnse leger Lombardije binnen en belegerde Orci Novi. Maar de komst van het Guelphse leger dforceerde Ezzelino om de belegering op te geven en de rivier de Oglio over te steken. Vergezeld door ballingen uit Milaan probeerden de Ghibellijnen de stad Monza met geweld in te nemen, maar de poging mislukte. Ezzelino en zijn troepen, zich bewust van de gevaarlijke positie waarin ze zich nu bevonden, trokken zich terug naar de rivier de Adda.
