De aardbeving genoemd van Verona, in Noord-Italië, vond plaats in de namiddag van 3 januari 1117. Het was een van de zwaarste aardbevingen in het middeleeuwse Europa. Meer dan zeventig kroniekschrijvers over heel Europa vermeldden ze. Het gaat om zestig kloosterannalen en twaalf stadskronieken.
Het kostte aan onderzoekers in de 20e eeuw jaren aan onderzoek om vast te stellen dat het eigenlijk om drie aardbevingen ging op 24 uur tijd op 2 en 3 januari 1117. Hiervoor baseerden ze zich op tientallen beschrijvingen van die tijd in termen van ernst van de schade, tijdstip van de dag en afstand tot de geschatte plaats van epicentrum.
