De kloven van de Goldfralay Felsformation werden gecreëerd toen blokken Luxemburgse zandsteen zich afgescheiden hebben van het zandsteenplateau langs parallelle kloven. De kleiachtige mergellaag onder de zandsteen verzamelt het binnendringende water en zorgt ervoor dat de zandsteenblokken in de vallei glijden en worden gekanteld.
