De Hoge Atlas maakt deel uit van van het zuidelijke gelegen Atlasgebergte en strekt zich uit vanaf de Atlantische kust tot aan de Algerijnse grens. Het hoogste punt van het gebergte is de 4165 meter hoge Toubkal, tevens de hoogste berg van Noord-Afrika. De toppen van de Toubkal zijn de meeste maanden van het jaar bedekt met sneeuw. Aan het einde van het voorjaat staan de berghellingen vol met bloemen. Vanuit het hoog en afgelegen Ifni meer hebben een prachtig uitzicht op de Toubkal.
