De Erasmusbrug is ontworpen door Ben van Berkel en opgericht in 1996. De brug is 808 meter lang 139 meter hoog. Door zijn specifieke vorm heeft het de bijnaam De Zwaan. Vlak na de opening werd ontdekt dat de brug begon te slingeren bij windkracht 6 en groter. DIt was te wijten aan de kabels die vochtig waren. Een nieuwe laag op de kabels loste dit probleem op.
