Het Oostermaet is een 300 hectare groot landgoed. De boerderijen zijn meteen te herkennen aan de rode luiken met donkergroene rand.
Rond 1600 was het een groot moeras met heidevelden. Naarmate er meer grond in cultuur werd gebracht, zijn er meer boerderijen gebouwd. Ze kregen mooie namen: het Oostermaet, De Grote Brander, De Kleine Brander, Zomerdijk, Keurhorst, Oosterhof en Westerhof. In tegenstelling tot de meeste landgoederen heeft er nooit een kasteel of landhuis gestaan.
Het landgoed is nu eigendom van de Stichting IJssellandschap.
