Wormerveer is een dorp en was tot 1974 een zelfstandige gemeente in de provincie Noord-Holland, gelegen aan de Zaan. De buurtschap Westknollendam maakte deel uit van de gemeente. Sinds 1 januari 1974 is het een onderdeel van de gemeente Zaanstad. De plaats beschikt over een spoorwegstation, station Wormerveer. Wormerveer telt circa 11.525 inwoners .
