Echten is een dorp in de gemeente De Friese Meren, in de Nederlandse provincie Friesland. Het ligt noordoosten van Lemmer aan de zuidrand van het Tjeukemeer.
Echten is samen met de nabijgelegen Echtenerbrug en Delfstrahuizen verenigd in Plaatselijk Belang De Trije Doarpen. Deze drie dorpen worden dan weer samen met het dorp Oosterzee ook Tjeukemeer-Zuid genoemd.
