Stadskanaal is een woonplaats in de gemeente Stadskanaal in de Nederlandse provincie Groningen. Anno 2021 heeft het 18.985 inwoners en behoort daarmee tot de grootste plaatsen in de provincie. Samen met het over de provinciegrens gelegen Nieuw-Buinen, vormt het een dubbelkern met net geen 24.000 inwoners. De plaats is ontstaan als veenkolonie en uitgegroeid tot een regionaal centrum dat de derde winkelstad van de provincie is met 75.142 m2 winkelvloeroppervlak.
