Café Het Verdronken Land is een begrip in Hulst en omstreken. Het bevindt zich net over de grens met Nederland aan de scheldedijk in Emmadorp. De uitbaters Gina (60) en Sofie (32), moeder en dochter, gaan er prat op dat dit het “gezelligste terras van Hulst en omstreken is”. Het opvallende en eigenzinnige terras en café is op zijn minst gezegd een belevenis. Het is tjokvol, maar toch smaakvol ingericht met brocante. “Veel maakt schoon”, zegt Gina met een lach. De uitbaters hechten veel waarde aan hun omgeving en hebben het grootste respect voor de natuur. “De zwaluwen mogen hier binnen en buiten vliegen. Ze bouwen hier zelfs hun nestje”, vertelt Gina.
