Het ligt ten noorden van Sneek en ten zuiden van Scharnegoutum, in de streek Lege Geaen. De oude dorpskern aan de oostelijke kant van de N354, aan de Dominee S. Huysmansleane en de Loëngaastervaart. De meeste bewoning ligt echter aan de westelijke kant, aan de Ivige Leane.Het dorpsgebied is vrij smal te noemen, nadat er grondgebied is overgaan naar de stad Sneek. In 2021 telde het dorp 195 inwoners volgens het CBS terwijl het in 2017 nog 95 inwoners was en in 2014 55. Waarschijnlijk zijn de laatste uitbreidingen van de stad Sneek, ten noorden van de Stadsrondweg Noord en op het oude grondgebied van Loënga, bij het huidige dorp gerekend.
